rotten fish: Day 1 of 100 Days of Brexit

rotten fish: Day 1 of 100 Days of Brexit (detail, possibly unfinished)

100 Days of Brexit is a drawing project where I pick out a word or a phrase from news about Brexit and draw something about it. Rotten fish is the drawing for day one and it is possibly unfinished. Here is the news article that inspired the drawing.

The industry says it has been hit by a “perfect storm” of Brexit disruption, which could sink a centuries-old industry.

“These businesses are not transporting toilet rolls or widgets. They are exporting the highest quality, perishable seafood which has a finite window to get to markets in peak condition,” said Donna Fordyce, chief executive of Seafood Scotland.

“If the window closes, these consignments go to landfill.” BBC News 8 January 2021

NB: the original version of the BBC News article had a paragraph headed with the words ‘rotten fish’. It must have been changed by the time I finished initial work on this drawing.
