I reckon there’ll be around 6,000 Saigon food related photos in my Flickr account by the time we leave Vietnam. That’s a lot. Most are pretty crappy. Some are quite good. A few are really nice. I signed up for Flickr for one reason only – to flesh out this blog. These days I’m wondering about the future of traditonal photographic agencies in this Flickrfilled, small is the new big world. Here’s an unoriginal tenuously related thought,
niche blog + niche photos + social software + one passionista = nichepower
It’s not cirquent calculus or abstract resource semantics and you don’t need a degree in blogging to grasp it. If the online world is a big part of your world, or you’d like it to be, it’s worth pondering your niche. Dan Gilmor says it better than I, in fewer words, sans psycedelic links,
"If you create a sufficient level of informed conversation about a
very narrow subject, that’s a business.You better
really love it, though, because you’ll get bored" via OJR.
Which brings me to "Great Vietnam blog ideas I have known and done sod all about" If I blog about them some bright spark might be inspired. More on those another day.
