Tet-ta-for-now
Happy new year to all noodlepie readers. I'm off for a week, but I'll leave you with the new year view on Tet-eve-eve from downtown Saigon. The place is packed. Nguyen Hue street is lined with Hoa Mai (Peach flowers) and there's more people than I've ever seen anywhere ever. There are two huge straw cocks slap bang in the centre of town. Drummers booming out the oriental beats outside the opera house - sounds like it'd be well worth checking out tomorrow night for the real thing. Biggest bummer - no sign of the colossal Banh Tet. I was told it'd be at the Opera House, maybe it'll get unveiled tomorrow night, but no sign of it today and I'm outta here. I hope you all have plenty of happy cock this coming year. Special thanks to Schmeebot for her Amazon gift voucher. I strongly advise all noodlepie readers to follow her example and spend, spend, spend on me, me, me... :) Catch you in a week's time.
Waaa waaa I miss VN so much, especially during the holidays. I think I'll go back to bed now and cover myself in blankets to forget about the 3 feet of snow on the ground.

I'M GONNA CRY MISSING MY FAMILY OVER THERE I MISS VIETNAM... fam lives in a moderately big house w/sat in an alley on HBT, i'm in america and i still don't have satellite (pretty backwards) btw... did you like the banh chung? i'm viet kieu but i hate banh chung, especially the kind you had, which was nothing but bean and no meats. Oops correction, what you had was banh tet because its in a shape of a log. banh chung is the box looking thing. same innards, same taste, diff shape.
