Not a nerd not lonely


Just for the record... Not too much a disagree with in this piece in this New York Times piece, but I take issue with the nerdy lonely bit :)

Few writers of books, magazines or newspaper columns could compete with, say, a lonely, Vietnam-based food nerd who’d spent the last 10 years eating at every food stall in Ho Chi Minh City, exhaustively documenting every mouthful. link

I'll take whatever compliments I can get... The piece did get me perusing some of the back catalogue. So many standout dishes in Saigon, but if you happen to come across this post at this moment and you are in Saigon now, click the image above, hover over the dish you like, click the link and go eat eat there. Guaranteed good eating. Alternatively, follow Andrea Nguyen's excellent advice.

this post makes extremely sad :( we just returned to the US after spending a month in VN and I am missing every bit of it. no more getting up in the morning and having a wonderful bowl of bun for breakfast on the street...
