I'm helping out Alex, the only unembedded journalist/blogger based pretty much full-time in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan with a bid for the 2008 Knight News Challenge. Knight dishes out grants for innovative journalism projects on a yearly basis. There's $5 million up for grabs and we're hoping a wee bit of it will go to fund this local reporting project in Kandahar. If you're interested, take a look at the bid here. We'd welcome comments.
