Le Web du Nuremberg

I've written more about Le Web at Comment is free today. The first post, about Shirom Peres' address to the conference, passed through the editing process very quickly (40 minutes). However, the second piece is still lounging in the system, having originally been uploaded 4 hours  and 47 minutes ago. I'm promised it's going up soon, but it already feels like the conversation has moved on - that's new media for you. Meanwhile, Tom Morris has an excellent round up of the chatter from bloggers at the conference and elsewhere.

Personally, I feel the conference has had the life sucked out of it by the egoism and ambition of certain individuals running the show and those hopping on the conference bike for a free publicity ride. I won't compare it to Nuremberg - but I will - the politicians have been allowed way too much time here. And it is the bloggers, or one blogger, who has allowed that to happen. Loic Le Meur may have political ambitions beyond the blogosphere, but this conference wasn't the place to publicly cosy up to the French politirati and stick a bit more political currency in the bank. Remember Loic, some folk forked out 600 Euros for this show... And now there's an open letter to Loic.

Alors, I'm disappointed. The discussion hasn't gone anywhere. It's great I (finally) got to meet Hugh - moving to London Macleod. Had more good banter with Shane - why are you here? Richmond, Ewan - Mac killer McIntosh, Robin - disappointed Hamman, Tom - Is this the Loic show? Raftery and others. I did four posts for Comment is free, I even got quoted - and cheered - from the stage. I missed that session (I was upstairs filing my last piece in a quiet room) but I fully intend to see my cheer somewhere in the video blogged footage -  think it's in the new dawn piece I can't find the video I mentioned. But, as a conference, it has been resoundingly damp. But we still have Hugh and the Love 2.0 session :)

UPDATE: OK - I just checked in the Comment is free machine and my last piece will be up in just over one hour at 6:30pm UK time. You'll find it here. Right, that's about it (probably) from Paris. I'm off out for dinner with Ewan and others later.

UPDATE: The last post.
