if the subject of journalism/media/blogs etc. interests you.
A couple of weeks ago I also wrote a feature for Marketing Week about film blogging – it’s not online – I got to talk to a bunch of interesting folk including Cumbrian cartoonist and rake Hugh Macleod. It’s the first time we’ve chatted even though we’ve corresponded for several years. It was great to finally talk. Hugh said something about journalism I’ve been pondered ever since. To paraphrase without listening back to the interview,
"When I first saw noodlepie and Ben Hammersely I thought this is it. This is the future."
I wouldn’t exactly lump what I do with Ben, but (I think) I hear the crux of where Hugh’s coming from. It’s the same reason I see such value in what Sandeep Junnarkar is doing at Lives in Focus. Now Sandeep’s talking to other folk doing other ‘hyperlocal’ stuff too.
Forget NewAssignment.Net, crowd sourcing, citizen journalism etc. Lives in Focus is still the basis of the journalism model I aspire to. Now I just need the project and the focus. Oh… and the cash would come in handy too 🙂
More on this topic again soon.
