This is the lamb burger from Juice Bar at 49 Mac Thi Buoi street in District 1, Saigon. It costs 95,000VD. It’s the only lamb burger I’ve seen in Vietnam. It’s the latest episode in the Saigon burger chronicles – more tips of burger spots always welcome in the comments, cheers :). This is a burger with ideas above its station; along with the exotic sheepmeat, thick onion ring and tomato, there’s sliced aubergine in among that lot pictured above. Aussie style. Juice Bar is a bit antipodean. I understand the same mob that have a hand in California PizzaWorks and California Burrito have a say in all things Juice.
This is only the second time I’ve eaten here and the first time the photos have been anywhere near good enough to release to blog which is a shame because it’s a great place to eat, drink and use the free Wi-Fi. The food at Juice is excellent. The cabbage salads and homemade Grannola being two hotfaves. The lamb burger is not to be sniffed at. Ignoring the unwieldy height and the Michellin tyre sized onion ring – a knife and fork a neccessity with this chap, a regular handjob just won’t do. This is the best burger I’ve found in Saigon. It comes with bogstandard sesame seed bun, frillfree fries and a very solid wee salad – raddish, pepper and lettuce. Highly recommended. More on the Juice experience in the pipeline.
