18. Bidrico Cola

Beverage: Bidrico Cola drink

Ingredients: Duong tinh luyen, sinh to C, huong cola, acid citric, chat bao quan 211

Appearance: Like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Sainsbury's Classic Cola, Qibla Cola, Tribeco etc. it's tar black. Like something you find in the drip tray under a geriatric Morris Minor in the morning. Come to think of it, you might find it under some geriatrics too.

Aroma: Coke, Sugar, Saccharine. CSS. CSS... That's something I've never undestood or really tried to get my head around for that matter. Why can't things like CSS just be simple, just work, without all the faffing?

Taste: That's not coke, not even close. No, no, no. Sweet - yes - but the chemical content is far too upfront to make this a beverage I'd feel comfortable buying again. It tastes like the name - Bidrico - industrial, all steel pipes, men in white jackets and steam valves. This one's going down the toilet. Shame really. I want to like a coke that isn't Coca-cola but it's just not working out, is it.

If this drink were a hat it would be... a hard hat

Our survey said... A misery inducing 2 out of ten.

Cost: 3,000 or 4,000 dong. I forget.

Just wondered if you have tried the Pepsi Cinno that's out now. No idea whether it's just available for the Vietnamese market or whether it's out anywhere else.

Either way, I tried it and although it doesn't taste great (well actually it tastes just as you might imagine a pepsi and coffee mix to taste), it did make me talk at 100mph for about three hours afterwards.

I'm guessing there is a fair hit of caffiene in it.

I tried (I think) Pepsi cafe or something. It was awaful. I didn't finish it. Maybe it was called Cinno, can't remember, but I won't be buying it again.

sounds like Panda...

Ah. that sounds suspiciously like Hays Scotch Cola, the local soft beverage of choice in and around Aberdeen.
