16. Saxi
Beverage: Saxi
Ingredients: Carbonated water (2.5 v/v), sugar (110 g/l), acidity regulator (330), natural & synthetic flavors, caramel color, preservative (211)
Appearance: Deep and dark. Mysterious. A little bit cheeky. Cheeky chops. Cheeky, cheeky, chase me.
Aroma: Flashbackmungus. This is the inbred, halfwit, twin brother to the Brit classic dandelion & burdock produced by god's own softdrink manufacturer Barrs. Barrs are worshipped internationally for not just one drink, but two: Irn Bru and the seminal Red Kola. I digress... So, Saxi... Hmmm...??? Sexy.
Taste: Not the full-on liquorice clout of a dandelion and burdock, but this stuff's alright. It's medicinal - in the not good for you, messes with your brain sense - and it's hawwribly sweet. This isn't what I was expecting. Although I don't quite know quite what I was expecting really. Who does? I dunno. The world's in such a mess, innit? Iraq, climate, beavers, espionage, pike. Just never ends. Oh well.
If this drink were a pointless waste of three years of your sad little life it would be... Applied Golf Management Studies.

Sa-Xi is the Vietnamese way of saying/spelling sarsaparilla :)
For some it's almost more popular than coke! There's many different brands too, all look and taste the same though.

Hi DC,
Not sure what's sarsaparilla is :), but I know xa-xi is Vietnamese version of root beer. Oh I used to love it...

Ha! Where else on the interwebumalator could you find a reference to Red Kola? Do ingredients such as 'preservatives and flavourings' not worry you when you are tasting?

Sarsaparilla - http://www.1001herbs.com/sarsaparilla/
It is a little root beery, innit? But my taste buds immediately registered dandellion and burdock. Probably all have the same base ingredients anyway.
Not at all mr. boogaloo. You know I read somewhere that the average (western) human body takes something like 60 days longer to start decomposing upon death than it did 40 years ago. So, you know, preservative, they, urrr... preserve. Who needs plastic surgery, elixirs or cryogenics. Just drink pop :)

Dandelion and Burdock - the finest soft drink known to man. There are a million places in Hanoi that will serve you fish and chips - cooked in the traditional British methods.
However - never with malt vinegar and back home I'd choose Dandelion and Burdock to drink with it.
And I know, if you visit this country for a short while I too would not choose to eat western food. But being an ex-pat is different (let's face it I don't eat English food all the time back home - why would I eat Vietnamese food 100% of the time here?)
So yeah...occasinally I would like fish and chips...with malt vinegar...washed down with D&B.
How I miss Cairnzies chip shop in Byker.
Then again Root Beer, to my mind is rank stuff, so if it tastes like that then maybe I'll give this stuff a wide berth.

Blimey. In that case, given the amount of Red Kola, Scotch Cola, Hays Lemonade, Hays American Cream Soda, Shoot!, Hays Limona, Bon Accord Cola, Irn Bru, Lilt, Fanta, Cremola Foam, Soda Stream (various 'flavours'), Coke, Pepsi and Fresca I drank in my youth, I should live to about 247.

Give it a go OMIH, you soft Geordie nonse :)
Msr Boogaloo at the very least you should donate you body to science. Must be all shiny and new inside, not that I'd want to look.
